Hop on a bus, train, or light rail for free to vote in Maryland
The MTA will operate all bus, rail, and mobility services for free on November 3 to help voters reach their assigned polling places.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will waive all fares on Tuesday, November 3, to facilitate voter access to polling stations. The policy covers every major transit service in the region for the entire day.
Riders will not pay for travel on MTA Local Bus, Metro Subway, Light Rail, or Mobility services. The agency introduced the measure to eliminate transportation costs as a barrier to casting ballots.
Polling locations across the state will operate from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The MTA advises residents to verify their specific voting address before traveling. It also recommends using the free Transit app to plan routes.
The application provides real-time service updates, predicted arrival times, and step-by-step directions. Users can input their polling location to find the most efficient transit connection.
For general service inquiries, the Transit Information Contact Center is reachable at 410-539-5000. Certified Mobility riders may schedule rides by calling 410-764-8181 or visiting mta.maryland.gov/mobility.
The fare-free window applies exclusively to Election Day. The agency aims to simplify the commute for voters who rely on public transportation to participate in the election.
