OnePlus has begun distributing the stable version of Android 17 to the OnePlus 15 and OnePlus Pad 4 in India. This release arrives seven days earlier than the company’s original plan, which targeted an October 29 launch date.

The rollout marks the official end of OxygenOS for these devices. OnePlus 15 and Pad 4 users are the first in the global lineup to transition to ColorOS 17, the software layer developed by Oppo. While OxygenOS started as a lightweight modification of stock Android, it had already converged with ColorOS in recent years. The switch to the new name aligns with the company's decision to phase out the OxygenOS brand after scaling back its global operations.

The stable update follows a beta period that ran for several weeks. OnePlus describes the new software as a focus on efficiency and artificial intelligence. The company stated that ColorOS 17 aims to make everyday interactions more fluid and to help users convert ideas into finished work with AI assistance. The update is designed to reduce friction when moving between tasks and different devices.

The release is currently limited to two models: the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Pad 4. Both devices run the new operating system, which OnePlus calls ColorOS 17. The company said the update brings a new wave of smarter experiences and smoother interactions.

Additional devices are scheduled to receive the update soon. The next wave is set for October 30 and will include the OnePlus 13. Other confirmed models for future updates include previous generation flagships and various Nord series handsets. The company has not yet provided specific dates for when the update will reach regions outside of India, though it is expected to roll out in the coming days.

This software transition occurs during a period of change for the brand. Reports indicate that the OnePlus 15 and other models sold out in the United States following the company's reduction of its global footprint. OnePlus has also recently revealed the OnePlus 16, which features a 9,000 mAh battery.
