Pueblo residents have until Friday afternoon to enjoy the last of the season's warmth. The city is forecast to hit 80 degrees on Friday, October 23, before a cold front plunges highs into the 50s by Saturday. That marks a 30-degree drop in 24 hours.
Morning temperatures started in the 50s with breaks in cloud cover. Sunshine emerged along Interstate 25 around 10 a.m. as the front advanced from the west. The system is expected to generate storms farther south and east, though Pueblo itself will see only a 10% to 20% chance of rain on Friday. More substantial rain chances arrive during the weekend.
Nearby towns face similar shifts in weather. Canon City has a 20% to 30% chance of afternoon showers with a high of 75. Woodland Park will see a high of 58 with afternoon clouds following morning sun. Walsenburg and Trinidad are expected to reach 73 and 74 degrees, respectively. Friday is their warmest day in the next week before weekend highs fall to the 50s.
Conditions vary across the state. Colorado Springs will top out at 73 degrees with a low of 47. The eastern plains may see thunderstorms return by Friday evening after a sunny start. Mountain areas will see highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. Flooding concerns persist in southwestern Colorado due to lingering moisture and slow water level recession.
The cold front brings a calmer week ahead. Sunshine and partly cloudy skies are expected, with temperatures gradually warming into the 60s. The preliminary Halloween outlook calls for dry weather and temperatures in the 50s and 60s, though that forecast remains subject to change.
