Apple pushed iOS 27.1 to the iPhone Duo on the night before October 23, leaving other iPhone models without the version.

The company unveiled the iPhone Duo last month but kept many hardware details under wraps until recently. To maintain secrecy and manage custom internal designs, Apple skipped a public beta cycle for this specific build. This allowed engineering teams to isolate the new device's features from the standard software pipeline. The result is a point release that serves only the new hardware.

Owners of other iPhone models will not see iOS 27.1 in their software update menus. Instead, those devices remain on iOS 27.0.1 until the next major release arrives. Apple plans to ship iOS 27.2 to the entire user base next week. This version has been in beta testing for approximately one month. It includes Suggested Actions in Messages, a redesigned Apple Music app, and user profiles for Apple TV. Additional changes involve an overhauled Up Next queue for Apple Podcasts, Dual Capture for FaceTime group calls, and expanded language support for Siri AI. By moving standard devices straight to 27.2, Apple ensures that no features intended for the broader fleet are delayed by the Duo-specific release.
