Haverstraw police arrested a 24-year-old man on charges that include aggravated attempted murder following a weekend crash.
The incident began on Friday at 4:41 p.m. when officers responded to a home report of a disorderly man trying to enter the residence.
Police located a vehicle matching the suspect's description and ordered the driver to stop. Isaac Cacial, of Haverstraw, instead accelerated toward an officer, striking and running over the man before fleeing the scene.
Catedral led officers on a pursuit southbound on Route 9W into Clarkstown before turning back north. He eventually crashed into a Haverstraw patrol car and was taken into custody.
Three Haverstraw officers were transported to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries. Catedral was also taken to a hospital for a medical evaluation.
In addition to aggravated attempted murder, Cacial faces charges for second-degree assault, third-degree assault, criminal mischief, and possession of a controlled substance and a weapon. He was arraigned in the Village of Haverstraw Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility. The Stony Point Police Department, Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Clarkstown Police Department, New York State Police, and Ramapo Police Department assisted with the response.
