A computer model simulating 10,000 iterations of Monday night’s NBA game projects a combined 236 points between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves. The prediction exceeds the current over/under of 231.5 points. The SportsLine Projection Model rates the over as a hit 56% of the time in its simulations.
The Cavaliers, who defeated the Brooklyn Nets 125-121 on Saturday, are favored by 5.5 points. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena in Cleveland. This marks the first meeting of the 2026-27 season between the two franchises.
Minnesota enters the contest with a perfect 3-0 record. The Timberwolves won 117-94 against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday. They have won both of their road games this season. Cleveland, holding a 1-1 record, has won its only home game of the year.
Anthony Edwards, who is managing a knee injury, is listed as questionable for the start. In three games this season, Edwards averages 28.7 points, five rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. Six Timberwolves players currently average at least 12 points. Donovan Mitchell leads Cleveland with 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game in two starts.
The over has hit in each of the last four head-to-head meetings between these teams. It has also occurred in five of Minnesota’s last eight games. The line has been over in seven of Cleveland’s last 10 contests.
The SportsLine model has returned nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on its top-rated NBA picks since 2018. It has posted four-digit profits in five straight seasons. The system is currently 26-10 on top-rated spread picks at NBA betting sites dating back to the previous season.
