A charity hockey game featuring New York Rangers alumni is scheduled for noon on Nov. 15 at Madison Square Garden.
The 5th Annual Alumni Classic, presented by Northwell Health, will pit former players against one another in a special exhibition. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Northwell Foundation and the Garden of Dreams Foundation. The Northwell Foundation supports children battling cancer and their families, while the Garden of Dreams Foundation works with the MSG Family of Companies to provide opportunities for young people in need.
The roster for this year's event includes legends from four different decades of Rangers history. The lineup features Mike Richter, Adam Graves, Ryan Callahan, and Henrik Lundqvist. Lundqvist told fans, “You are going to recognize a ton of former players. We’re going to have a ton of fun.”
The teams will be coached by Stéphane Matteau and Ron Greschner. Players from the 1994 Stanley Cup winning team are expected to take the ice. Current Rangers favorites Derek Stepan and Marc Staal will also participate in the matchup.
Most special ticket packages are already sold out, including options for Zamboni rides and signed mystery pucks. The only remaining exclusive experience is the GardenVision Message package, which allows fans to display a message on the arena screens. Other sold-out experiences included sitting on the Rangers bench and taking post-game photos on the ice.
Northwell will maintain a visible presence at the event. One Northwell employee will sing the national anthem on the ice. A Northwell hockey team will join the alumni for warmups and sit on the bench during the game. Lower-bowl tickets are still available for purchase for the noon start time.
The event is designed to celebrate Rangers hockey across generations. It offers fans a chance to see former players interact in a live setting while raising funds for two local charitable organizations. The game will take place in the main arena of Madison Square Garden on the afternoon of Nov. 15.
