Stony Brook University women's soccer secured a spot in the CAA Women’s Soccer Championship after defeating Northeastern 2-0 on Oct. 25. The match took place at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium and ended with the Seawolves holding a clean sheet.

The game featured aggressive play throughout the first half. The two teams combined for 16 fouls and three yellow cards. This intensity led to the opening goal when Emily Lemke was fouled in the box in the 27th minute. Lemke took the penalty kick and shot it into the upper right corner.

Goalkeeper Jona Hennings limited Northeastern's offensive threat. She faced only one shot on goal during the first 45 minutes and made the save. In the second half, Hennings stopped the Huskies' first attempt to keep the score at 1-0.

Stony Brook extended their lead in the 83rd minute. Maya Corbett drew a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. Lisa Muller stepped up to the spot and converted the kick to make it 2-0.

Hennings made two saves in the final moments to preserve the clean sheet. The win guarantees Stony Brook a postseason berth. The team finishes the regular season on the road against Hofstra on Nov. 1.

A victory in that final game would improve Stony Brook's positioning for the tournament. The Seawolves enter the CAA Championship as a result of their performance on Sunday.
