Bridgeport police set a $100,000 bond for two men arrested following a home invasion on Kent Avenue on the city's East Side.
Officers responded to the residence shortly after midnight on Sunday after a 911 caller reported hearing an intruder. Upon arrival, patrol officers observed a person wearing a ski mask exiting the front door. That individual, identified as a 21-year-old Bridgeport man, surrendered without resistance.
Simultaneously, officers entered through a damaged back door and located a second suspect inside. The 20-year-old Bridgeport man was smashing a kitchen window in an attempt to escape. Investigators reported finding the 911 caller's wallet in the possession of the second suspect.
The caller stated that one or both suspects attempted to force open his bedroom door while he pushed against it from the inside. Police also discovered a vehicle running in the driveway, which was equipped with a stolen license plate. A separate report confirmed the car had been stolen in Derby.
Both men face charges of home invasion, first-degree burglary, disorderly conduct, and second-degree reckless endangerment. The investigation is ongoing.
