NPR puzzle asks listeners to name 13 U.S. locations
A new on-air challenge tests knowledge of American geography through a series of two-word place names, with a winner named from the previous week's round.

NPR published a new on-air puzzle on Sunday, November 1, asking listeners to identify 13 specific locations within the United States. The challenge requires solvers to match given clues to two-word names of cities, states, rivers, or other geographic features.
Each clue is constructed so that the first letters correspond directly to the initials of the correct answer. For example, the clue "Florida Locale" points to Fort Lauderdale. The current list of riddles includes "Northeast Haven," "Pioneers' Pinnacle," and "Storied Fire." Other prompts in the set are "Molten Lava," "Oil Capital," and "Lotsa Vacationers."
The puzzle also features "Newlyweds' Favorite," "Dry (very!)," and "Hydroelectric Development." Additional clues provided are "Port Honolulu," "Engineered Channel," and "Health Spa." One specific answer requires three words and is described as "Minnesota's Sizable Population."
Deborah Freedman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was named the winner for the previous week's challenge. That question asked listeners to identify two well-known companies whose logos begin with lowercase letters and contain a capital "B" internally. The correct answers were eBay and jetBlue.
Listeners may submit their answers for the current round by Thursday, November 5, at 3 p.m. ET. Participants must include a phone number where producers can reach them. Selected responders will have the opportunity to play the puzzle live on the broadcast.
